Beverly Hills Cop 3 Movie Or TelevisionAll screen shots seen on the website are used for descriptive purposes only and are property of the companies that produced the particular movie or television show.![]() Landis knew the script wasnt very good, but he figured that Murphy could save it with his comedic routine. However, Murphy felt that his Axel Foley character was an adult now, and played him much more seriously, deliberately side-stepping around the comedy. Landis said that the film was a very strange experience, and an odd movie. He was depressed that most of his most recent star vehicles had either underperformed or bombed. Originally estimated at fifty-five million dollars, it was soon in excess of seventy million dollars. Of that budget, fifteen million dollars was Eddie Murphys paycheck. However, numerous problems, such as scripting issues and the budget, caused pre-production to drag out to the point that John Aston and Ronny Cox had to drop out, due to obligations to other pending film projects. When this movie was mentioned, and the audience clapped and cheered, Eddie said, No. No. It wasnt a very good Beverly Hills Cop movie. The alien robots are the Cylons (from Battlestar Galactica (1978)) from a section of the old Universal Tour Battle Of Galactica. The last story would have involved a British gangster loosely based on the real-life Kray brothers, who was captured in Detroit and transported to London by Paul Reisers Jeffrey, and Axel would have gone overseas after the gangsters henchmen broke him out of custody and murdered Jeffrey. This concept was scrapped, because producers Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer decided it was too close to the storyline of Black Rain (1989). He wanted to be taken seriously as an straight action star like Wesley Snipes and Denzel Washington. The song is a comedic take on their own signature song, Its a Small World. He then later claimed during an interview in 2006 on Inside the Actors Studio (1994) that he felt the third film was atrocious and such a disgrace that the character was kind of banished for a while (from Hollywood). He said he felt the third film did not reveal enough of the edginess of Axel that was present in the first two films. He also said he hopes to return the edgy qualities to the character when he reprises the role next time, and is going to pay more attention to the development of the project, and its quality. Hill are the only actors to appear in all three Beverly Hills Cop movies. Beverly Hills Cop 3 Trial Over TheThe two had become friends during Trading Places (1983), but soon thereafter, they had a falling out over Murphys refusal to support Landis at his trial over the accidental deaths of Vic Morrow and two children during the filming of Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983). Murphy still wanted Landis to do Coming to America, due to his fond memories of working with him on Trading Places. However, a major conflict erupted on the set of Coming to America when crew members started complaining about not getting paid, and Landis told them: You tell Murphy to give you your money Thats B.S. Murphy was already angry at Landis for giving him attitude after Murphy stuck his neck out for him and got him hired, while the studio objected to Landis due to a string of flops and his trial. Murphy told Playboy Magazine: I playfully grabbed him around the throat, put my arm around him and I said to Fruity, one of my guys, What happens when people put my business in the street and Fruity said, they get f---- up. Landis reached down to grab my ----, like he also thought it was a joke--and I cut his wind off. He fell down, his face turned red, his eyes watered up like a b---- and he ran off the set. F--- punk. Murphy went on in the interview to say Landis confronted him the next day: He came to my trailer later and made this big speech. His voice was trembling, and it all came out: that he didnt think I was talented, that the only reason he did Coming to America was for money, that he didnt respect me since I hadnt gone to his trial and all this b------. Also at this time, Murphy was quoted as saying I will work with John Landis again, the next time he works with Vic Morrow.
